Doula ; a woman who serves

A doula is a trained professional who empowers, educates, and nurtures mothers and their families from pregnancy to postpartum. While holding space for the birth experience, doula’s provide continuous labor support: emotionally, informationally, and physically. Meet the Doula

Ella Blaise Thompson

Hello, I’m Ella Blaise Thompson, a birth + postpartum doula and lactation support professional serving the San Diego community. For as long as I can remember, I have had a calling to birth work. Since becoming a doula, it has become my passion to support, nurture, empower, and care for families from pregnancy through to postpartum.

My journey into birth work stems from a love for empowerment, education, and providing a nurturing space. My mission is to provide unconditional, uniquely tailored pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support to families as they welcome their newest blessing. In my work, I emphasize an evidence-based approach while meeting mothers and fathers where they need. To provide care for positive, loving, and gentle birth experiences.

After receiving my DONA training years ago, I have worked with dozens of families as they welcome their babies into the world. Since then, I have found a calling in lactation support, which has led me to pursue continuing education as a lactation professional at UCSD Extended Studies.

I look forward to all the BIRTHdays and 4th trimesters I will be blessed to attend and the families I will hold close to my heart.

  • "Ella was an amazing support before, during, and after my birth. She is very attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. After having a rough time giving birth to my daughter, Ella was able to guide me through the birth of my son - making it an amazing, healing experience. "

  • "After our twins were born, Ella supported us as a night nanny for the first six weeks of their lives. She really helped us transition as a larger family by not only keeping our twins well cared for, she supported me with words of encouragement and even helped with small things chores around the house. I knew that when I went to sleep, our twins were in her safe, loving, caring hands. She is knowledgeable, proactive, and so dedicated to what she does that I can't recommend her enough"

  • “Although I had an induction which took some time my doula, Ella, was there from the beginning to end with patience, guidance, and tons of support. When I spoke she listened. It was a great experience.”

    - Jessica T.

  • "Ella's reliability and the gentle care she provided our son made all the difference the first few months postpartum. Her thoughtfulness, kindness, and genuine passion for her work were evident in everything she did. My husband and I were able to get good night rest knowing our son was in loving, capable hands."

    - Melissa

  • "Ella is so sweet and was a true blessing to have with me during my labor. She validated my feelings and reassured me throughout it and is very knowledgeable on all things labor and postpartum."

    - Isabella G.

  • "Ella was such a blessing to have with me immediately after giving birth. Even though it was my third birth, I had never been successful with breastfeeding. Ella researched the method I was interested in attempting. She helped support me in implementing the new breastfeeding technique. She was such a calming and encouraging presence during a typically stressful time for me. She is simply amazing."

    - Courtney B.

  • "Ella supported me beautifully during labor, but what stood out most was how she continued to care for me afterward - through thoughtful check-ins and support in every way I needed. I had several difficult and highly stressful moments during my postpartum journey and Ella’s compassion and attentiveness made a huge difference in my postpartum recovery, and I always felt like I had someone in my corner who not only was knowledgeable but someone who truly cared. She gave more than I expected and made me feel seen and supported every step of the way."
